Passed away peacefully at Wellington Hospital on Friday 6 January 2012, after a short illness, aged 85 years.

Loved husband of the late Marie Daughan Valerie Rush and Noelle Evelyn Heap. Dearly loved father of Dale and son in-law Mike Hartle, Lesley and partner David Williamson, Raewyn and partner Brent Kosijer, Karen and son in-law Scott Parker, Graeme and partner Rachel Preller, Christine, Maureen and son in-law Kevin Farrington, and Brian.

Cherished Grandad and Grandpa of his 12 grandchildren; Jason and Aaron, Callum and Blair, Amy, Jade, Alani and Liana, Kelly and Tom, Charlie and Dean. Treasured Great-Grandad to Astin and Isla.

Much loved and respected Uncle and godfather to all his nieces and nephews.

Twin brother to the late John Ross Sharp (Sydney) and the late Eileen, Joan, Doreen, and Denis.

Survived by his youngest brother Norrie Sharp of Gosford, NSW. Stepdad to Michaela, Matthew and Carrie, and much loved and respected by their families.

In-lieu of flowers, donations to Mary Potter Hospice, which Des supported for many years, or the Life Flight Trust, Wellington, where Des's grandson is an IC paramedic, would be greatly appreciated and can be left at the service.

A Requiem Mass to celebrate Des's life will be held at St Teresa's Catholic Church, Karori Road, Karori, Wellington, on Wednesday 11th January at 11.00am.

The Rosary will be recited in the above church at 7.00pm on Tuesday 10th January 2012.
