On December 13, 2010, suddenly at home in Christchurch, aged 79 years.

Dearly loved husband of Betty, loved father and father-in-law of Philip (deceased), David and Raewyn (Invercargill), Diane and Martin, Susan, and Janine, and much loved grandad Bill of Carmen, and Scott; Jason, and Corey; Kerry, and Paul; Mark, and Megan; and Mathew, Philip, and Dylan; and treasured by all of his ten great-grandchildren.
