Freda May Duncanson (nee Wanhill) died at Eventhorpe Home and Hospital, Hamilton East, on 17 March 2008, aged 78 years. Her peaceful death ended a struggle with increasing health problems over the past few months. Coming so soon before Easter it added personal poignancy to our remembrance of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Freda was the eldest daughter of Jack and Mavis Wanhill (both deceased), and loved sister and sister-in-law of Ruth, Margaret (deceased) and Doug, Olive and Peter, John and Jacqui, Elaine and Waru.
She was the treasured wife of Graeme (deceased), and wonderful Mum of three gorgeous redheads - Mavis, Barbara & Claire, and their partners, Kerry, Tony and Dave. She was the loved Grammy of Rochelle and Shane, Lauren and Drew, Elyse and Wes, Joseph, Shaycee, Harriet, Melissa, Madeline, McLaren and her great-grandson Alex was born on Good Friday (21 March 2008).

We miss her deeply, yet we do not lose hope because we know that love is stronger than death, and that the life she has shared with us has helped us to become the people that we are.

Lord, I am your servant, and now I can die in peace, because you have kept your promise to me.
With my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people ... Your mighty power is a light for all nations, and it will bring honour to your people Israel.
