Our beautiful and much-loved mother, Kyriacou (Kay) Loizou, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, 11 October 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Kay joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year; a remarkable milestone in a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to family.

Beloved wife of the late George Loizou, who passed away 50 years ago.

Dearly loved Mother and Mother-in-law of Maria and Chris Chrysostomou, Loulla and Spiros Toulis, Lewis (Lou) and Rochelle, Basil and Vasso, Haralambos (Bob) and Ruth, Andrew and Paula. Cherished Grandmother of 17 grandchildren and Great-Grandmother of 21 great-grandchildren.


Kay will be remembered for her infinite love, quiet resilience, unwavering faith, and inner strength. Her life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and selfless dedication to her family and her faith. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Rita Angus Retirement Village for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greek Orthodox Community of Wellington would be appreciated and may be left at the Church.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Kay's funeral service which is to be held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral “O Evangelismos tis Theotokou" (Annunciation of the Birth giver of God), 3 Hania Street, Mount Victoria on Thursday 16th October 2025 at 10:00am, followed by the burial at Karori Cemetery.

Condolences will be accepted at the Church following the service.
