HALL, Allan John (AJ)



A Gisborne legend – a kind and gentle advocate for justice.

Allan died with his daughters beside him on 6 September 2025, aged 83.



Beloved husband of Pamela. Dearly loved father of Veronica and Rosemary, father-in-law of Peter and Stephen and granddad of Hazel, Lars, Otto, Piper, Arana, and Tierney. Admired and loved brother of Dennis ‘Rocky’, and Trish, brother-in-law of Philip Tremewan, Jude Hall, Alan and Pamela Cocks. Loved uncle of Nina, Ralph, Martin, Lynette, Gillian, and Judith.



A wise lawyer, Tairawhiti coroner and city councillor. A loving family man, keen walker, and loyal contributor to a multitude of Gisborne community organisations.



We will honour and farewell Allan on Saturday September 20th at 12 noon, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Derby St (enter by the side door) followed by refreshments at the Parish Hall. Burial will follow at Taruheru Lawn Cemetery.
