IN MEMORY OF

Denis Fletcher Stanton

10/11/1939 - 8/02/2024

Denis Fletcher Stanton (also known as Fletcher and Fletch) - 10 November 1939 to 8 February 2024.

“Ned Wilco” has crossed the finish line to take the chequered flag after his final lap. He slipped away peacefully in Christchurch aged 84, having endured a decline in health from dementia over the past few years.

Loved father of Deborah and Timothy, loved brother of Jillian and Averil (Ford, deceased.) Loved husband of Rosemary Gardyne.

Denis was born in Dunedin, and although he lived most of his life in Christchurch he spent several years living and working in South Africa, England and Kenya.

Denis/Fletch is remembered as a car nut, motor racer, gifted mechanic and classic car restorer, adventurer, and a charming, loveable rogue. His love of ice cream was legendary.

Always keen to help people, Denis/Fletch was the proud recipient of a Christchurch City Council Recognition of Service Award for acts of kindness, service and heroism during and following the Christchurch earthquakes in 2010-2011. He helped set up the Redcliffs Community Centre and was a huge support to local residents.

A private cremation was held and Denis will rest in Akaroa with his favourite view of the harbour.

Heartfelt thanks to the incredibly kind and supportive team at the Bupa Parklands Care Home Rimu wing.
