On July 14, 2008, her Nev beside her, after a courageous battle with illness and pain for many years, in her 83rd year.

Dearly loved war-bride and helpmate for almost 63 years of Neville, treasured mother and mother-in-law of Rodney and Maria, Geoffrey and Loris, Brent and the late Wendy McDowell, Lorna and Keith Burgess, Stephen and Barbara, and adored Gran and great-Gran of her dearly loved 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, loved sister and sister-in-law of the late Ena and Ken Beckley, and half-sister and sister-in-law of Cynthia and Michael Heckford, and half-sister of the late George and William Harris, and respected Aunt of her loved nephews and nieces all in the U.K.

A celebration of Bette's life will be held in St Mary's Anglican Church, corner Lawrence and Whitby Streets, Mornington, Dunedin, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18 followed by private cremation.

Donations for St John Ambulance would be appreciated and may be left at the Church.
