Died on November 10, 2023; aged 70 years. Loved and devoted husband of Marilyn.

Dearly loved father of Robbie, and Anna, and father-in-law of Sanjeewani.
Loved brother and brother-in-law of Neil Fordyce and Janet White, David and Brenda Fordyce, Alastair and Maryke (deceased) Fordyce, Alison and Ken (deceased) Stevenson, Barbara Lloyd and Peter McNoe, Robyn (deceased) and Garth (deceased) Townsend, Suzanne Lloyd and John Hyde, Patricia and John Cuttriss, Alan and Joan Lloyd, Douglas and Carol Lloyd, Caroline (deceased) and Geoffrey (deceased) West, and Edward (deceased) Lloyd. Loved son of Margaret (deceased) and Ian (deceased) Fordyce.

A respected and admired paleontologist, morphologist, cetologist, taxonomist, systematist, evolutionary biologist, and friend, colleague, and mentor to many in the scientific community both near and far.

A memorial service for Ewan will be held at Hope & Sons, 523 Andersons Bay Road, at 2:00pm, on Monday, November 20. In lieu of flowers, donations to support the maintenance of the University of Otago Geology Museum collections would be welcomed and may be forwarded to Geoscience Society NZ Otago branch account 02-0929-0191475-000
