NELSON, Jean Ellen

On February 6, 2022, peacefully, after a long, well-lived and adventurous life, at Yvette Williams Retirement Village; in her 98th year.

Much loved aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt of Heather and Tony, Rebekah, Kassy and families.

A very special thank you to Sally, Paula, Rachel and all the staff at Yvette Williams who made her last years of life happy and peaceful.

As per Jean’s wishes, a private cremation has been held.

A memorial service will be notified at a later date when Covid restrictions allow.

NELSON, Jean Ellen (1924-2022)

Loved daughter of James^ and Ellen^, sister of Kenneth^. Aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to her wider family (^denotes deceased)

Jean enjoyed a long and rich life. She was known for her role as a music lecturer at Dunedin Teachers College, her leadership nationally in International Youth Hostels federation (National Vice President 1995-2007), and her involvement in many Dunedin activities including the Otago Art Society, Wakari Art Group and the Shetland Society of Otago. She was also a musician and a stalwart of the Dunedin art and music scene. She was an inveterate international traveler from her early 20s until her last trips in her 80s.

As per Jean’s wishes - a private cremation has been held.
