MUNRO, Gavin Donald

Passed away peacefully at Ross Home, Dunedin,on April 3, 2019: aged 93 years.

Born in Hawera on October 1, 1925, Minister, teacher and family man. Loving son of Donald and Annie Munro, brother of Rhoda, Nancy, Jean, Peggy, Nella, Rod, and Malcolm, husband of the late Merle, father of Katrina, Robin, Carolyn, and Stuart, grandfather of Geoffrey, Penny, Elizabeth, and George and great-grandfather of Oliver.

Fulbright Scholar educated at Wanganui Collegiate, Christchurch Teachers College, Otago and Yale Universities. Gavin was a sole-charge Rural Primary school teacher, an Ordained Minister, the Principal of the Church of Christ Bible College in Dunedin, Haddon lecturer in Biblical Studies at Knox Theological College and at retirement in 1991 he was Professor of New Testament at the University of Otago. He was an active member of many organisations in particular, The Bible Society and the Stroke Club.

The funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ, 1 St Andrew Street, at 1.00pm on Saturday, April 13; followed by private cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations to Ross Home would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
