Adored husband of Nancy. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Monday 15 January 2024 at Te Hopai Home and Hospital, aged 95 years. Born and raised in the Aran Islands, County Galway, Ireland. Much loved father and father-in-law of Michael and Helena, Ann and Jon, Theresa and Michael, Rosemary and Mark, John and Nic, Angela and Stu, David and Arimi, Kevin and Maria, and the late Peter. Cherished grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of 9.


Thanks to the staff at Te Hopai, Nurse Maude (especially Ruth), the Chelsea Club, and the Thursday prayer group at St Anthony’s (especially Julie).

A Requiem Mass to celebrate Mac’s life will be held at 10.30 am on Friday 19 January at St Anthony’s Church, 66 Falkirk Avenue, Seatoun, followed by a burial at Whenua Tapu Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed in the same Church at 6.30 pm on Thursday 18 January.
