Passed away peacefully at home with courage and dignity, sorrounded by love. Devoted and loved wife of the lateTrevor. Dearly loved mother and mother in law of Stephen and Joselyn, Gary and Lyn, Karen and John. Much loved nana of seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Written by Margaret.
I was born in Hamilton to Rex and Ruth Slow. I was there only child as it was mum’s second marriage so I had two half-sisters and one brother (not that it made any difference because we had such a happy family). I went to Te Kowhia School until I was 8 years old then we shifted to Hamilton, where I went to Fairfield, Woodstock Primary and Peachgrove Intermediate, then on to Tech Collage. I worked at Vales Book Shop, Milne Choyse Plastic Products. Then I met Trev when I was 16 years old and married him when I was 17 years and went on to have 3 children. In those days you stayed home to look after your children. We lived in Morrinsville, Whangamata and Hamilton. I went to work when we came back to Hamilton, which Trev didn’t like me working. Men were the bread winners in those days and never mind that the children were at school and my Dad and Mum were there for them. Dad just loved his grandchildren and they loved him.
I gave up work when Trev was at home and we went to markets every weekend to sell or try to sell the work he made in his shed, plant pots, barrels, horse and wagons etc. I looked after Dayna and Amy during the week and took them to Kindergarten then school until they went to intermediate after 10 years. I also looked after Jamie and took him to kindergarten and school….he loved my marmite sandwiches. I loved doing this as it gave me something to do while I was home.
We enjoyed our family get togethers and we had lovely Christmas days for everyone. Since Trev passed it has been very hard and lonely at times but I had to carry on like others do. Stephen and Jos are in Australia – we try to get together once a year and talk on the phone once a week. Gary and lyn live in Hamilton so they are there if I need anything done – thanks to them and family. Karen lives in Papamoa we talk everyday and see one another when possible.
