Berry, Pauline Roberta, was born in Wellington, New Zealand on 23 August 1928. After a long and happy life, she passed peacefully in her sleep on 28 July 2022 at Village at the Park in Wellington.

In her last months she was surrounded by beautiful gardens and wonderful staff, her family will be eternally grateful for their care.

Pauline married Alan Edward Black on 17 May 1946, and soon after gave birth to Darryl John Black (5 Dec 1946 - 8 June 2021). She later married Norman Berry (6 Jun 1920 - 23 July 1997) who ensured she had the most wonderful and comfortable life, right up until the very end.

Pauline was first and foremost a classy lady. She spent her earlier years working in fashion stores and thrived on helping people find their perfect outfit. Her favourite way to relax was spending time on their boat called ‘Nameless’, often sailing down to Marlborough Sounds.

Her greatest loves were fashion, cats and her hometown of Wellington. As a matriarch, Pauline had boundless, unconditional love and was incredibly proud of her family. Pauline absolutely adored her parents John and Annie Robinson. She was also very close to her Aunty Alice.

She is survived by her granddaughter Rachel Black, her great grandchildren Maddison Dellar and Nathaniel Nichols and her great, great granddaughter Matilda Dellar. I am sure Norm, Leisa and Aunty Alice are showing her around the giant designer shopping mall in the sky, while Darryl is waiting in the car.

Messages may be left in Pauline’s tribute book on this page.

A service to celebrate Pauline’s life will be held at The Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 375 Adelaide Road, Newtown on Wednesday 3 August 2022 at 1pm, followed by a burial at Makara Cemetery.
