Akata passed away peacefully on 9 October after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. A modern day Wonder Woman with a green thumb & a heart of gold. Daughter of the late Matalena Telesia Ioapo and Ili Mika Manuleleua and Tinilau Ioapo.

Will be sorely missed by her husband Desmond Brough, children; Tasi & Angela Va'a, Vili Va'a and Sara Dewar , Naomi Va'a & David Jackson, Ruta & Joe Gray, Rosie & Samuel Doughty, Petesa & Arlen Derian, Stephanie Va'a, Siosi Tamapolu, Maria Mckenzie, Karen, Karl & Dan Brough. Forever loved by her grandchildren Kirstin, Danielle, Sarah, Jesse, Erika, Jacob, Logan, Mason, Vili, Lisa & Serafina Va'a, Siona, Shania, Shakira & Sini Gray, Alex, Buna, Rosalia, Zenobia, Priscilla, Samantha & Ratu Doughty, Dylan Jackson, Bowie & Tuesday Brown, Sirina & Lorne Brough, Karlee Tamapolu, Lealani & Manu Va'a Listen-Lloyd. Forever cherished by her Great-Grandchildren Elisaia & Peyton Carter and Hunter, Kalani & Mokoia Brown. Akata's brother, sisters, nieces and nephews will dearly miss her.

The family service will held at the Cockburn Street Chapel, cnr Cockburn St & Onepu Rd, Kilbirnie on Sunday 15th October at 6pm. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday 16th October at 10.30am, thereafter interment at Whenua Tapu Cemetery
